An election season that kicked off in the depths of winter will wrap up on a cool and perhaps rainy autumn day, as voters in Arlington and across the commonwealth head to the polls from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to statewide races for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general, Arlington voters also will select a County Board member to succeed Jay Fisette and a School Board member to take the seat of James Lander.

Democrats Erik Gutshall and Monique O'Grady are the front-runners for the two positions; Gutshall will face independents Charles McCullough and Audrey Clement in the County Board race, while O'Grady will face Mike Webb and Alison Dough for School Board.

Voters across the commonwealth also will cast ballots for their House of Delegates member. In Arlington, Democratic incumbents Patrick Hope (47th), Rip Sullivan (48th) and Mark Levine (45th) are unopposed, and Democratic incumbent Alfonso Lopez (49th) is being challenged by Adam Roosevelt.

There are no local bond referendums or state constitutional amendments on the ballot in Arlington this year.
